What is Executive Wine Education?

Executive Wine Education is the “executive summary” of wine. The goal is not to memorize every appellation or become a sommelier. It is to learn enough structure to understand what is in the glass, navigate a wine list or conversation comfortably, and get more enjoyment from wine.

Across the site, we use short articles and videos to cover the essentials of the world’s major wine regions and practical wine etiquette.

Where we have a personal connection to a region, we also share stories from our own travels and experiences. Wine becomes much easier to remember when it is connected to a place, a meal, a person or a moment.

Our Story

We have been passionate about wine for a long time, but what interests us most is how wine connects you to the world around it. Wine is inseparable from a region’s history, food, culture and people.

Our family has lived in the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and Switzerland. Whenever we moved somewhere new — or traveled somewhere new — we were quick to connect with the wines of that region. Over time, wine became one of the ways we experienced and remembered places.

Wine is also an obvious way of drawing people together around a table. In professional and social settings, understanding at least the basics can be surprisingly useful. Or, at minimum, it is a shame to miss out on something that can add so much to a meal, a trip or a conversation.

That is where the original idea behind Executive Wine Education came from: this is the wine course they should have taught you in business school. Part of the site is practical education. The rest is simply a creative outlet for us to share experiences and build a community around a subject we love.
